How to Not Get Tired of Doing Good

Galatians 6:9 encourages believers not to grow weary in doing good, promising that, in time, they will reap the rewards of their labor if they do not give up. This is a call to perseverance, even when immediate results aren't visible. Believers are exhorted to live a life of continuous self-denial, recognizing that true discipleship requires taking up Christ’s cross, not just in name, but in action.

For many, especially Seventh-day Adventists, there's a misconception that accepting Christ’s cause means comfort. However, genuine conversion should manifest in everyday actions that reflect the sacrifice of Calvary. When believers actively serve others and pursue God's will, their transformed character becomes evident to the world, demonstrating the power of God's grace.

Furthermore, the passage reminds us that good works are a natural byproduct of repentance and conversion. As believers immerse themselves in God’s Word and dedicate their talents to His service, they contribute to the spreading of the Gospel and the salvation of souls. This mirrors the deep love God showed through Christ, as described in John 3:16.

Ultimately, the choices made in this life have eternal consequences. The call to overcome, as Christ did, is clear: victory requires total surrender to God’s will, forsaking selfishness and worldly desires. As the heart becomes entwined with Christ, the eternal reward—a place in His kingdom—is secured.

Practical Examples of Doing Good:

  1. Help Others, Even in Small Ways: Sometimes, being kind might seem too simple to matter, but it does! For example, helping a friend with their homework or being kind to someone who feels left out are small but important acts of goodness.

  2. Volunteer for a Cause: When we work to make the world better, like by volunteering at a food bank or cleaning up a park, we’re doing good in a bigger way. Even if it feels like you’re just a small part, you’re making a difference.

  3. Keep Praying for Strength: Sometimes, we feel tired of trying to do the right thing, especially when the world seems unfair. When we feel like this, we can ask God for help, trusting His promise in Isaiah 40:31 that He will give us new strength when we rely on Him.
