Why Hasn't Jesus Come Yet, and How Can I Be Ready?

Many of us may wonder, "Why hasn't Jesus returned yet?" The answer lies in God’s love for humanity. Jesus is waiting because He wants everyone to have the opportunity to choose Him. As 2 Peter 3:8-9 explains, God is patient, not wanting anyone to perish but for all to come to repentance. Likewise, Matthew 24:14 tells us that the gospel must be preached to all nations before the end comes. This delay is not a sign of indifference, but of God’s desire for every individual to make a conscious choice for or against Him. There is a cosmic battle between good and evil, with Satan accusing God of being unjust. Until everyone has had the chance to choose, Jesus holds back His return.

How Can I Be a Leader in the Church?

Becoming a leader in the church requires more than just desire; it demands spiritual growth and a heart for service. Leadership isn’t about authority, but about guiding others toward Christ. Here are some key qualities that a church leader should cultivate:

  1. Spiritual Growth: Continue growing in your relationship with God through prayer and study of Scripture.

  2. Desire to Serve: Leadership is service. Ask yourself, “Am I here to help others grow in their faith?”

  3. Communication Skills: Be able to listen and express ideas in ways that build the body of Christ.

  4. Commitment: Be dependable and committed to the work, putting in time and effort.

  5. Vision and Integrity: Have a clear sense of direction and live a life that reflects your beliefs.

If you feel called to leadership, examine these areas in your life, and seek God's guidance through prayer and counsel from trusted church members.

How Do I Know If I’m Ready to Participate in a Church Ministry?

Feeling ready to serve in ministry can be intimidating, but spiritual readiness is key. Ask yourself:

  1. Am I spiritually mature enough to lead or serve? This involves a deep relationship with God and a willingness to learn and grow.

  2. Do I have a genuine desire to serve others? Ministry is about meeting the needs of others, not just personal fulfillment.

  3. Do I understand the ministry I’m considering? Familiarize yourself with what the role entails and whether it aligns with your gifts.

  4. Have I recognized my abilities and spiritual gifts? Reflect on how God has uniquely equipped you to serve.

If you feel a desire but hesitate due to inexperience or self-doubt, trust the Holy Spirit. God often calls us into roles where He provides the ability to succeed, even when we feel unprepared.

How Do I Discover God’s Plan for My Life?

God has a plan and purpose for each of us, but understanding that plan requires intentional steps:

  1. Seek God in Prayer and Scripture: Start by connecting with God regularly. Reading the Bible and praying are essential for hearing His direction.

  2. Recognize Your Talents: What are you naturally good at? These gifts are often clues to your calling.

  3. Be Conscious of Opportunities: Opportunities to serve may not always look significant at first, but every act of service matters in God’s kingdom.

  4. Take Leaps of Faith: Sometimes God calls us to step out of our comfort zone. Trust Him to equip you.

  5. Seek Advice from Mature Believers: Find mentorship from those who have experience in their faith journey. Their wisdom can guide you as you explore your purpose.

Ultimately, God wants to use each of us for His glory. Our talents, experiences, and opportunities all play a part in His grand design. By taking steps of faith, staying connected to God, and serving others, we can discover His purpose for our lives.

If you’re still wondering about your next steps, remember that God will guide you. His plan for your life is unfolding, and with every prayer, act of service, and moment of faith, you are moving closer to fulfilling your purpose.
